Slow Fade

“People never crumble in a day – it’s a slow fade.” This is the chorus of Casting Crown’s “Slow Fade” song. The lyrics are just as applicable to a nation as to an individual and unfortunately for America, we have been in a slow fade for some time now.

When “I dream of Jeannie” made its debut on television in September of 1965 it was the most embattled show to come across the airwaves. Television rating organizations had all kinds of problems allowing “Jeannie” to show her belly button. Today, that is laughable. Last night I was forced to turn “King of Queens” because it had 4 curse-words in 2 minutes. That’s just not appropriate for my children. Sorry. Then I found my wife turning “Bones” because of inappropriate sexual content. In fact I found myself encouraging my wife to watch Monday Night Football because it’s the only thing on that doesn’t have cursing, sex, or violence. It has been a slow fade.

I was told by someone I know this week that I view the world in black and white. She told me that there is a lot of gray out there and that it is irresponsible to view rules as being hard-fast. As a lawyer turned financial consultant I know a few things about gray. In law school they taught us that you could take the case if it passed your “straight face test.” This meant that if you could argue your client’s side with a straight face then you could allow them to employ you. There are a lot of shades of gray in law. In the financial realm everything is speculative. Talk about gray. But in God’s word, it is not gray. It is black and white.

I have sinned enough for 10 lifetimes and I still feel my own self-inflicted scars about the things I have done, but it was not God’s word that wavered, it was me. God didn’t suggest the 10 Commandments he commanded them. God is the same today as he was when he made the world and when the world ends, God will still be the same. God doesn’t slow fade even if his people do.

You see God hasn’t changed his stances on divorce, homosexuality, cursing, gambling, etc, etc, etc. We as a culture have changed our stances. We have replaced spanking with grounding, the doctrine of “love the sinner, hate the sin” with “have tolerance on different ideas and cultures.” Do you realize how many times tolerance is in the Bible? Try zero. God is merciful, God is good, but God is not tolerant. God doesn’t say – “well it’s ok this time.” God says – “IT IS WRONG – repent, come to me, and I will forgive you.”

Oh America, why have we been in a slow fade? Oh Christians, why us too? The thing to remember is that God is merciful – let us repent of our sins no matter how great and take this country back for God Almighty! What has been a slow fade can be an instantaneous snap back to reality, back to worship, back to repentance. Let us pray for our country, but let us turn off our televisions when questionable shows are on. Let us, turn off our radios when things counter to the will of God begin to play. Let us live like we are from another world, not of this one. Lest we continue to slow fade to a point of no return.

In the wake of the presidential election, no doubt many Christians will be dispirited and upset. Do not be. While I think we should be dissappointed in the outcome, I know that God has an amazing plan for this world and that he was not surprised. I am not sure how God will make lemondade out of this lemon, but I know he will because I have read the Book and WE WIN!

Now at this time in our great history I want to encourage other Christians to PRAISE GOD! Do not sulk. Why would you? We are not defeated, we are VICTORIOUS! I would also encourage Christians to share your faith. I feel the presence of God moving in our land, let us go to people and tell them of the hope we have.

Continue to pray for this country. Pray that God's will be done! Pray that we will be given opportunities to witness and then let us be faithful enough to do it.

Psalm 71:14-15 puts it this way:

14 But as for me, I will always have hope;
I will praise you more and more.

15 My mouth will tell of your righteousness,
of your salvation all day long,
though I know not its measure.

VICTORY is in the Air!

Do you feel it? It is almost palpable. Never in my adult life have I ever seen or experienced anything quite like it. It is VICTORY! It is guaranteed! And it is coming!

As a Christian who slid as far away from my Lord Jesus as humanly possible, I was awoken by the spirit about 6 weeks ago. It wasn't a mild whisper telling me to repent and come back to Jesus; it was more of kick to the abdomen. It was certainly not something I was going to ignore. I found myself cruising down the road crying like a baby confessing all the sins I had committed since last time I truly walked hand in hand with God and asking him to forgive me, to come back to me, and to restore our fellowship.

What I have seen though is that regardless of where along the lines of time we are, God is working in miraculous ways today. Can you feel it? Have you felt that nudge at your heart recently? Have you felt that attempt to rekindle your spirit? Have you heard people in the grocery store line talking about Jesus? Have you tried mentioning Jesus’ name to a stranger in public – they seem oddly receptive to talking about the Savior.

Here upon the edge of a Presidential election the outcome of which absolutely terrifies me, I find comfort in knowing that God is still in control. I also find great opportunity and responsibility in the coming days. I believe God will want his children to spread the Gospel and I believe that he is already plowing the hearts of many in a miraculous way. I must admit I have never been good at witnessing. I get nervous talking about Jesus to people, but I am going to try.

No matter who wins this election do not feel sad or despaired. Certainly do not feel let down. God is a master weaver and he weaves plans that are amazing to behold. He is still on the throne and if you are saved through Jesus Christ then you are VICTORIOUS! Now let us just humble ourselves as Christians and submit to God and pray that he will somehow use us in some of his miracles.

Never did I think I would see a day when we would have to ask the authors of “Left Behind” whether a candidate for President was the Anti-Christ. Never did I think I would see the day where the authors of “Left Behind” would answer that question “it is unlikely.” But here we are, teetering on the edge of electing a man that many around this country are saying – “nah, he couldn’t be the Anti-Christ” about in an almost reassurance tone. We are on the brink of electing a guy that after being in his pocket for numerous months the media is finally saying about “we know nothing of this guy.” Woe – here we are.

It doesn’t matter to us that his father was Muslim and his mother atheist. It doesn’t matter to us that there is a question about whether he was born in the USA. It doesn’t matter to us that he attends a racist church whose preacher says G.D. American rather than God bless America. It doesn’t matter to us that some of his campaign headquarters have Cuban flags hung from their walls. It doesn’t matter to us that he refuses to salute the flag. It doesn’t matter to us that he has almost no experience. It doesn’t matter to us that he is associated with an unrepentant terrorist in William Ayers. It doesn’t matter to us that he has ties to ACORN which helped get us in the financial mess we are in today. It doesn’t matter to us that he has associations with former Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae high ups. It just doesn’t matter to us. It’s all about CHANGE. Obama himself said it is about the devil we know versus the devil we don’t know yet. That is what I am afraid of.

Christians…..? CHRISTIANS! Where are we CHRISTIANS? We are about to vote into office a man who voted against allowing medical help to babies born alive from unsuccessful abortions. That is an extreme that even the most liberal voters cannot see eye to eye with. CHRISTIANS? Has anyone seen our CHRISTIANS? We are about to elect a man that says he is not a proponent of gay marriage, but thinks it would be a shame to overturn gay marriage in the states that already have it. CHRISTIANS? Where are we CHRISTIANS?

In Hebrews God was very clear….”by faith Moses,” “by faith Abraham,” BY FAITH CHRISTIANS! What are we voting? What are we thinking? How are we living? It is all supposed to be BY FAITH!

Regardless of the outcome of this election there is an absolute truth – God is in control. God is still on the throne. BUT, what does it say about America, about us as Christians if we do not vote BY FAITH, but rather by something else. The Bible does not call us to vote “for wallet,” “for change,” “for popularity,” “for jobs,” “for history!” It calls us to do everything including voting “BY FAITH!”

Please CHRISTIANS vote your FAITH!

Please CHRISTIANS pray God’s will be done in these elections and that his mercy for America be great.

Then believe your prayer will be answered and believe it “By Faith!”

“Life is easy when you’re up on the mountain
And you’ve got peace of mind like you’ve never known
But then things change and you’re down in the valley
Don’t lose faith for you’re never alone!”

I love this verse of “God on the Mountain.” Unfortunately for America, we are now very much down in the valley. Sometimes as Christians we get so comfortable when times are good that we think that somehow we are above it all. We maybe quit taking our Christian responsibility seriously. Then something happens “and we are down in that valley” and we are forced to run back to God. Well now is the time to start running! America needs to seek the face of God, and we need to do it soon.

We should take solace that even King David had this happen to him. And we should follow his lead in how to address it. In Psalm 30 David prayed to the Lord:

6 When I felt secure, I said,
"I will never be shaken."

7 O LORD, when you favored me,
you made my mountain stand firm;
but when you hid your face,
I was dismayed.

8 To you, O LORD, I called;
to the Lord I cried for mercy:

9 "What gain is there in my destruction,
in my going down into the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it proclaim your faithfulness?

10 Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me;
O LORD, be my help."

11 You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,

12 that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.

You see David was so sure that nothing could ever shake him that I think he got scared when it did. So now that it seems our country is believing we are above God, that what we have accomplished is somehow our own merit rather than God’s blessings we are having a hard time seeing God’s face. But GOD DID NOT LEAVE DAVID, and he has not left the USA. We just need to humble ourselves and pray for mercy! God will then turn our wailing into dancing! In order to stand up as a Christian we have to lay down everything to God. I urge you brothers and sisters in Christ – PRAY WITH ME! REPENT WITH ME! FAST WITH ME! I will be fasting starting Sunday night and praying each night starting tonight that God will show mercy on the United States of America and turn our “wailing into dancing.” Pray that God’s will be done in this election and pray that his will be done in America. Pray with faith that God hears prayer and rewards faithfulness and then WATCH FOR THE ANSWER!

Vote Your Faith, Not Your Wallet

I am an American. I am a husband. I am a father. But most of all I am a Christian. As a Christian I am commanded, not encouraged, to put God first in my life. I am also a financial advisor who has watched as the markets squirm and gurgle recently. Even with this said, I am a Christian first. I must vote my faith and not my wallet.

One day I will stand in front of God, and I do not want to have to answer the question "Why did you vote for someone who was the greatest proponent of abortion in the history of the Congress?" My soul trembles at the thought of such a thing. Indeed, Barack Obama has been called the strongest abortion proponent in the history of Congress by National Right to Life. Obama is such a strong supporter of abortion that he even voted down a bill that would allow medical care to be given to babies that were born alive as a result of failed abortions. As a Christian, this seems a lot like murder to me.

As a Christian I also believe that our leaders should most definetly govern by the Bible. I want my leaders to pray and to read the Bible and to be Godly people. Barack Obama has stated that it is impossible to govern by the Bible. He stated that the Sermon on the Mount would result in chaos if it was applied to government. As a Christian, to me such a viewpoint is repulsive.

Finally as a Christian I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. Barack Obama supports gay civil unions and seems to suggest that they are the first step toward allowing gay marriage some day. He even equates gay marriage to interracial marriage. I am sorry, once again, faith guides me that this is wrong.

When it comes right down to it fellow brothers and sisters in Christ if you can pray and in good faith vote for Senator Obama then by all means do so. If however you are feeling like God is conflicting your soul about such a vote then I would urge you to vote your faith before your wallet.

In conclusion, I would ask that regardless of who you are voting for you pray for our country. Numerous Christians around the country are praying at 9:00 each night a simple prayer that God will have his will be done in our country over the coming months and years and that he will forgive our sins and restore his blessings on us as a country.

New Coach for the Vols - Guess Who.

Handicapping the Field

• Will Muschamp – PROS – Muschamp is a tireless worker and by all accounts a phenomenal recruiter. He would give Tennessee an instant “mean streak and swagger” at the head coach position. He is energetic to the point of being hyper and he would likely relish the opportunity to get back into the SEC as a head coach. CONS – He has never been a head coach before and just because you are a great fiery defensive coordinator who can recruit and is full of energy does not mean you will be a success – ie – see Ed Orgeron. The other negative is that he is a defensive coordinator and Tennessee may be in need of some offensive minded help. INTERESTING TIDBITS – Tennessee would likely have to increase its budget for clipboards if it hires Muschamp. He has a penchant for breaking them much as Spurrier likes to chuck visors. Muschamp has been known to breach the clipboards into his hand and continue to coach while bleeding everywhere. Got to love that mentality. QUALIFICATIONS – Muschamp cannot be questioned as a defensive mind. He has been linebackers coach and defensive coordinator at LSU, Auburn, and Texas and always puts a top tier defense on the field. Everywhere he has worked the word that follows him is “genius.” Nick Saban says he is the best assistant coach he has ever worked with and will be a great head coach.
• Tim Brewster – PROS – Brewster is a student of the game who is considered a great recruiter. He has head coaching experience at Minnesota and could likely be lured away with moderate expense. He has shown the ability to recruit at a top notch level even at Minnesota and he has NFL experience. CONS – While he has NFL experience it was as a tight ends coach. He was 1-11 last season at Minnesota and really was on the hot seat before becoming the flavor of the month this season. His season so far this year has been strong, but the schedule has been terribly weak. The Gophers have only played one ranked team and that resulted in a 13 point loss to Ohio State. They have a common opponent as the Vols – they beat Northern Illinois by 4. Brewster’s claim to fame is recruiting, but he has no offensive nor defensive coordinator experience to hang his hat on. INTERESTING TIDBITS – Brewster is known for his work with tight ends and his use of the tight end in his offenses. He is widely credited with the development of Antonio Gaines in San Diego. QUALIFICATIONS – A great recruiter is a requirement of a head coach at Tennessee and Brewster fits the bill. He also has NFL experience which could certainly be a plus. He has head coaching experience, though a weak schedule may slightly skew this year’s impressive record.
• Chris Peterson – PROS – Peterson has an incredible 91% winning percentage as head coach of the Boise State Broncos. Peterson’s Broncos are always among the nations best offensive teams and he coaches an aggressive blitzing defense that is usually among the stingiest in the land as well. CONS – Boise State coaches have a history of leaving and flaming out in other conferences. Dirk Koetter flamed out with a 40-34 record at Arizona State and Dan Hawkins has just a 12-21 record since leaving the smurf turf for the greener pastures in Colorado. Peterson is also a scientologist which may be a negative to recruiting in the south. Peterson has not really turned a program around, he took over a program already on very solid footing at Boise State. It is unclear how good a recruiter he would be at a top tier school. INTERESTING TIDBITS – Peterson is known for his penchant for trick plays. His famous “Stature of Liberty” play to beat Oklahoma in overtime overshadowed that he had gotten that game to overtime via a 4th and 18 “Hook and Lateral.” QUALIFICATIONS – A stunning winning percentage, coupled with great offenses and defenses have lead Peterson to be a hot young coach. The failures of his predecessors along with his leadership of a program that was already atop its league is not his fault, but does leave a lot of questions about rebuilding a program in a tougher league.
• Butch Davis – PROS – Davis is a winner on the college level. He is similar to Nick Saban in that Davis has made a name of himself by running a very tight ship that wins games not with stunning gameplans, but with good fundamentals. Davis is a very good recruiter with ties to South Florida from his days as Miami’s head coach. Davis’ experience at running bigtime football programs, and his experience in the NFL make him a very attractive commodity and one who is not too far away in North Carolina. CONS – Davis has made it known through his agent Jimmy Sexton that he thinks the top schools in the SEC for recruiting are Georgia, Florida, and LSU. He also has made it known that he sees the SEC as much more difficult to win at a high level in than the ACC and would therefore be inclined to stay at UNC. Davis has a rather high salary and buyout and with Sexton as his agent, it would cost Tennessee dearly to go across the mountains to lure him west. INTERESTING TIDBITS – Davis never won a national championship with the Hurricanes, though he got terribly close. He turned their program around and was a very successful coach for “The U,” but his ultimate success in their program came a year after he left for the NFL. QUALIFICATIONS – Davis is extremely qualified and has been a very good college coach with a reputation for running a good program the right way. He has NFL experience and is a good recruiter. Davis’ big drawbacks are big bucks and his desire to stay in the ACC where winning comes easier.
• John Gruden – PROS – CHUCKIE is a tenacious winner that would certainly give a fresh and easily identifiable face to the program. Gruden has ties to the program and to the East Tennessee area as well. As the head coach of the Tampa Bay Bucs, Gruden could sell recruits on his NFL experience, and could take his Super Bowl Championship Ring with him while recruiting to make a likely favorable impression. Gruden has intensity, toughness and is easily recognized. He also has tons of head coaching experience. CONS – Gruden’s Bucs are still good and he is still getting paid at a very high clip. Its one thing to enter a bidding war with North Carolina, and quite another to challenge an NFL team in the Price is Right. Also consider that college coaching and NFL coaching is a different game. The college ranks are littered with former NFL head coaches who flamed out at the college level and visu-versa. This would be a very expensive swing and miss if that were to happen. INTERESTING TIDBITS – Gruden’s father was an assistant coach with Notre Dame and John did something that has been extremely difficult in the NFL – he won with the Oakland Raiders. Gruden took the Raiders to the playoffs 3 straight years. QUALIFICATIONS – Well let’s see here – a borderline Hall of Fame NFL coaching resume has got to stand for something. The question is whether he would want to come to the college game when he is still winning in the NFL and if he does, could we even afford him.
• Lane Kiffin – PROS – Kiffin has a reputation as a solid recruiter and an offensive mind. He also has the possibility of being able to bring in his father who is considered a brilliant defensive mind and is the creator of the “Tampa 2” defensive scheme. Kiffin has a recognizable face, some NFL head coaching experience, and has served under Pete Carroll at USC. Perhaps the most enticing thing about Kiffin is that he is currently unemployed and would cost UT nothing in a buyout. He is also very young and would possibly be a nice long term fix. CONS – Kiffin failed pretty miserably as the Raiders coach, but that in and of itself isn’t a disqualifier since pretty much everyone has. Kiffin has no college coaching experience and is more of a west coast guy than an SEC guy. If we got Kiffin there is no guarantee his dad would come too, and even if he did, his defensive schemes are known more for their bend and don’t break than their aggression. INTERESTING TIDBIT – Norm Chow has been no great fan of Kiffin. Chow stated that UCLA defensive coach Dewayne Walker was a better coach than either Kiffin or Sarkisian. QUALIFICATIONS – Kiffin may come a bit cheaper than most former NFL coaches. He is also a young coach with a good pedigree and a strong reputation. The question is though if you put a Pete Carroll and USC in the SEC do they cease to be USC?
• Gary Pinkel – PROS – Pinkel seems to be flying under the radar a bit since Missouri suffered back to back losses in the rugged Big 12. That being said, Pinkel has done a lot in turning around the Tigers and his exciting brand of offense and adequate defense should garner him some consideration. Pinkel has had to deal with some things at Mizzu that would face him at UT – mainly, a lack of in-state talent. Pinkel has been a very good recruiter for the Tigers however and could sell his fast paced offense to recruits much as Bruce Pearl has his. CONS – It’s a long way from Mizzu to UT Toto. While Pinkel has done a remarkable job turning around Missouri’s program, he has still struggled to beat the top teams in the Big 12. At 56, Pinkel is a bit older than most of the candidates on this list and one has to wonder if the Vols would take an SEC outsider at his age over a Spurrier or Tubberville if they came available. INTERESTING TIDBIT – Pinkel and Tennessee are tied together in one very interesting way. Chase Daniel seemed to be headed to Tennessee, but was scared off by the spector of Jonathon Crompton. Seems like Daniel made a wise choice. QUALIFICATIONS – winning at Mizzu and having little talent in state to recruit seems similar to wining at Tennessee with little talent in state. The question here is age and lack of SEC pedigree. How far “outside the program” is Tennessee willing to go?
• Mike Leach – PROS – WOW – the offense is amazing. No one can argue that Mike Leach cannot coach offense. He may be this generation’s Steve Spurrier (OLD ball coach). Leach has shown a propensity for scoring against anyone including Texas and Oklahoma and his hiring would likely bring a new and exciting offensive swagger to the Vols. CONS – Leach’s offense is not really conducive to defense. It could be a volatile mix kind of like June Jones and Buddy Ryan. Leach’s quick strike offense doesn’t take a lot of time off the clock and leaves his defense to get tired quickly. That being said, it does score. Leach is not really considered a top notch recruiter so he would likely have to surround himself with talented recruiters. Wow, he really does seem a lot like Spurrier. INTERESTING TIDBIT – Leach is one of only 4 head coaches at Division I that did not play college football. The others are Weiss (Notre Dame), Mangino (Kansas), and Paul Johnson (Georgia Tech). QUALIFICATIONS – Leach’s offenses have that “wow” power. Leach also has never had a losing season at Texas Tech – take that Coach Fulmer. That being said, Leach’s system in the SEC would be interesting to watch. It would likely necessitate the hiring of some great recruiting assistant coaches and a top notch defensive coach. Spurrier has shown that quick strike offenses can work in the SEC, but that was a different time – would they still today?

There are other candidates out there, but this was a list of the top ones from my point of view.

Thank God for Little Miracles

It is a tight week financially for the Common Sense Cat and family. These weeks happen every so often when living paycheck to paycheck. But I have a praise to tell that does not surprise me at all.

My church has been ministering to some local schools in our community and we decided to provide lunch for the teachers there since they do so much for our children. I signed up to bring barbeque from a local hot spot and had said I would spend around $20 or so since others were bringing various dishes as well. The cost of the barbeque ended up being $40 when all was said and done with the sauce and all. The importance of this will only be apparent in a minute.

Today, I went to pick up $200 cash from my wife to deposit into our checking account to cover a $200 check we wrote to our daycare provider. The problem was that my wife had spent some of the $200 and so we decided we would deposit only $180 into our anemic account. My wife counted out the $180 about five times and then I counted it a couple of times as well. Then I went to my bank to deposit the money. The bank is just next door to my wife’s employer, so the money never left my hand. Rather, I just went over and gave it to the teller with my deposit slip for $180. The teller asked what I wanted her to do with the other $20. I said “excuse me?” She said, “you gave me $200” and then proceeded to count the money out. Sure enough, $200. Now these were not new bills and the way it was divided was not just a wad of twenties, but rather 3 fifty dollar bills, a twenty, and a ten. Now somewhere a new twenty had appeared.

I told my wife who said that was impossible. Then I asked – “You think God just paid us back for the rest of that barbeque dear?” Her response told it all “oh wow!” Isn’t God Good!

A Funny Email with a Powerful Point.

I was at work today when I received the following email. I wanted to share it with you my friends. It is a good lesson for us to learn since Obama continues to speak about the redistribution of wealth.

"Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign the read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a 'Obama 08' tie, again I laughed--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

OR IS IT.........REDISTRIBUTION OF SOMEONE ELSE'S WEALTH IS A GREAT IDEA..............or just a fool's political game !!"

DON'T GIVE UP!

At one point I was convinced that Barack Obama was steaming toward a sure thing victory, but I am not convinced of that now at all. What has changed? Polling numbers? No. I have changed.

I wrote you about Governor Palin’s amazing visit from Pastor Mark Arnold in Ohio who told her that she was chosen by God to reign as a modern day Esther. The thing I just now realized is how important that message was.

You see as a Christian God will talk to you on a mano-a-mano, on a one to one basis. He desires that fellowship greatly. A few weeks back he had my Uncle contact me twice in one week with scriptures that were on his heart, which were the same scriptures I was reading that day. My Uncle lives 500 miles from me and could not have known what I was reading. That message was just for me though, and would have been wasted on my mother or a friend…. The message was just for me.

So the question that no one has been asking about the Palin-Esther message is - "of what significance to Sarah Palin was this message and of what significance to Christians?" The message had a powerful effect on Sarah Palin and her husband who both reportedly wept immediately. As a Christian you know that feeling! You know that overwhelming “God moment” where God does a little miracle meant specifically for you and there is no explanation for it and no one else can quite comprehend what it meant to you. It was a mano-a-mano experience.

So why did Sarah Palin burst into tears upon Pastor Arnold’s message? Apparently, Sarah Palin had asked her preacher to give her advice on how to be a leader. He told her to read Esther. She used Esther as her role model. There is probably more to the story than this, but I think it shows us two great things about Governor Palin. First, God had a one-on-one experience with Palin and Palin listened and heard that message and believed (henceforth the crying). Secondly, I think it shows great Christian character that instead of going to her political advisers on how to be a great leader, she went to her Christian advisor and then based on his advice went to the Bible. This is such a brilliant contrast to Barack Obama who has said that you cannot govern based on the teachings in the Bible.

So what does this all mean for Christians in America? It means – DON’T GIVE UP! It means that God has his hand all over this election. Would Esther have been the same if she had failed to become Queen? No, it would have changed the story entirely. Esther was a beautiful jewish girl who won favor with King Xerxes and prevented the slaughter of all the jews. But Esther only gave her people the ability to fight and defend themselves, she was not an automatic victory in and of herself. She gave them the chance to assemble and protect themselves. They did so and were victorious in so doing. SO STAND UP! Let us save this country and fulfill that which has been prophesied to Governor Palin. Do not bury your head, lift it. Vote, encourage friends to vote, spread the news more now than ever. Most of all pray. Pray that God’s will be done! Pray for Sarah Palin and John McCain. Hit your knees at 9:00 EST each night and pray for your country. THIS IS NOT OVER! DON'T GIVE UP!

The Writing on the Wall

Today the markets fell again, prompting some to call the amazing knee jerk reaction of the markets world-wide “bizarre.” In the past few weeks, Christians world wide have been murdered and prosecuted at unbelievable numbers by different groups including Hindus and Muslims. Somali Pirates saved Israel by intercepting a ship that was in essence a floating “dirty bomb” created by Iran to decimate Israel. The times are getting very scary. I urge everyone with a mind of their own to read Revelation in their Bible. I urge everyone make sure your loved ones have a relationship with Jesus Christ. I urge everyone to consider your vote and who is the least risky candidate. Think with your mind, not with your wallet. The writing is on the wall. Who will look at it and read it? Who will ignore it?

Have you ever noticed that most people only turn to God during the direst moments in their life? Have you ever noticed how God seems to be especially attentive during those periods?

Trying times bring sincere prayers to God’s ears, but they also bring something else – submission. In a day and age where the adults have been brought up in school learning that science is the answer to all that ails man, it often takes a dilemma for which science has no answer to bring a true “God experience” into our lives.

You see God is the ultimate Father. We are his children. God wants to be our provider, but too often we think we can provide for ourselves. As a father nothing makes me happier than giving gifts to my children on Christmas. The look on their faces, the idea that I had a hand in making it a happy day for them, it is wonderful. But what if my children bought their own gifts? What if they thought they had no need for me? It would be a sad day indeed for dear old dad.

Too often as Christians we get caught up in what we can do for ourselves, or even what we can do ourselves for others. This is all well and good, but we forget that we have a Heavenly Father than can do anything. He has unlimited finances, unlimited authority, and unlimited power. When we leave Him out of our day to day life, it does not glorify him and it does not make him happy. Benjamin Franklin noticed this sentiment at the Constitutional Convention. He said, “And have we now forgotten that powerful friend (GOD)? Or do we imagine that we no longer need His assistance.”

God wants us to rely on him. He wants us to ask for His help through prayer. He wants us to be the Children and let him be the Father. It is no wonder that Jesus rebuked his disciples when they tried to send the children away from him saying, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14) I don’t think Jesus was referring just to children here. He was speaking of those who will humble themselves before the Heavenly Father like children. A child is helpless compared to an adult and he looks to his Father/Mother for everything. So too should we look to God.

I am guilty of having prayed “God show me what I can do for you.” While this is a decent enough prayer, it confuses the roles. The prayer should be “God, use me for your glory.” My measly abilities pale in comparison to God’s mighty powers and he certainly doesn’t need me to do anything, but I sure wish he would use me so I can experience his majesty.

So how should we as Christians be praying? The answer is four-fold I believe. I believe we should first be submissive. We should be that child that is totally reliant on the Father for sustenance. Secondly, we should make sure that the prayer is God honoring rather than self honoring. Asking God for something that will honor him is acceptable, if the prayer is to honor us, it is not acceptable. Next we should make sure it has Biblical underpinnings. Make sure that what you are praying for is a need or burden that can be found in scripture. Everyone in the community not having cell phones is a far cry from everyone in the community not having food. Finally, we should be praying with faith that the prayer will be answered. Hebrews 11 tells us how important having faith is by constantly echoing “By Faith Moses….By Faith Abraham….By Faith….By Faith….By Faith.”

After we have submitted ourselves, asked a God honoring prayer that is Biblical in nature, and we have faith in the outcome – we wait and watch. Sometimes we may be given the answer and not even see it because we are not watching. Sometimes we give up too soon. God is never early, nor late, He is always right on time. The problem is that He knows when the time is right and we do not. The waiting and watching of our prayers is never-ending and this allows us to “pray without ceasing.”

If we pray this way and act more like children to God than adults thinking we have all the answers, I have great faith that God will work a miracle that will sweep across this nation like a brushfire. Join me in this. It will be a work in progress, but oh what a work it could be.

Oh Ye of Little Faith

Do you see them? The signs. The closer you get to God, the more time you spend in his word, the more diligently you seek his face, and the more time you spend in prayer with him the more amazed you get. You don't see them? I didn't either, not till recently.

I will be honest, I have done things that turn my stomach and must have broken the heart of God, but he didn't forsake me. Even though I knew I was acting in a way that was absolutely opposite of His will, He was there. He was always there urging me home, asking me to repent, imploring me to turn to Him. Finally, I listened. It has changed my life, and my eternity.

It is hard to explain God's miracles in this day and time, but you know them when you see them. And you see them everywhere. You just have to take time to look. Romans 12-2 states - "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

It is so easy to listen to those in the world that pass off miracles as coincidence or bizarre happenstance. But we as Christians should know better. We should see the little miracles that God reveals to us and we should embrace them with confidence and reassurance. But most of all, we should desire to share the ability to see these miracles with others. The discerning of the miracles of God are made sweeter by the company of others.

The amazing thing about God is that he is always there. It doesn't matter if you have lived a near perfect life or if you have committed horrible sins, he loves you and he wants you to come home to him. And his little signs should serve as a comfort to us as we go.

But make no mistake about it, we cannot get there on our own. There is only one way to Heaven and that is through Jesus Christ who died on the cross for us. No matter how good a life we have lived, we have still sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God, but Jesus paid the price for us. He paid the price for all our sins....all of them. We just have to accept him and turn to him.

We also should tell others about him, because otherwise how will they ever get to know the miraculous truths we know? Make no mistake about it friends, God is real and Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Let us turn back to him and enjoy the little miracles that he reveals to us.

A Call to Prayer

Ask for for forgiveness for our country which has strayed away from the teachings of Christ. Ask that God's will be done. Let us all do this going forward each night. Purveying the landscape of this political election from the viewpoint of a Christian voter should allow for an easy "cut-n-dried" decision. Barack Obama and Joe Biden stand proudly for the pro-choice crowd. Obama has attended a church for 20 years that seems to promote black activism as much or more than the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and then on the other side you have Sarah. Barack Obama's comments that America is no longer a Christian country, but one of Jews, Muslims, Atheists, and Christians got a small mention by the media. Sarah Palin's statement that she hoped that our soldiers in Iraq have a plan and the plan is God's Will got her hammered for days. As a Christian I am not disheartened by the media's attack on a sister in Christ, because it is to be expected. I am, however, moved by the fact that Heaven seems to be with Sarah Palin. Please read the attached article if you have not already. I urge you to join myself and many others around this country in hitting your knees tonight and every night through the election and beyond at precisely 9:00 EST and asking the most gracious God to bless our country, heal our land, and watch over Sarah Palin and John McCain. Miracles Still Happen

What has happened to America? Barack Obama says that we are no longer a Christian nation, but rather a nation of Christians, Muslims, Atheists. Say it is never so. But it is. As a Christian, I have been failing. If you are a Christian and are reading this maybe you have been failing too. God had a purpose for us, to proclaim the Good News, but too often I find myself proclaiming that a football coach should be fired or that a politician should be elected. I am ashamed to say that I spoke on things I shouldn't have and remained silent on things I should have shouted from the rooftops.

The closer you get in your walk with God, the more of the Bible you read, and the more time in prayer you spend, the more God shows you his "little miracles." They are a blessed display, but why have I not been recounting them at the water-cooler instead of the most recent football game?

I have seen several miracles, but let me speak of three. The first one happened when I was in Memphis at Kirby Woods Baptist Church. We were raising money, I believe for a mission family. We took offerings in the morning services (2) and had fallen a few thousand dollars and some change short. When we took offerings for the evening service we counted the money out in the open to see if we had raised enough - we had - down to the penny. Praise God! While amazed, I didn't sing the song to the rafters. Why not?

The second miracle I witnessed was with my mother. She had open-heart surgery and went into A-Fib. Due to her having had cancer, and her already weakened condition, the doctors said the chances of her making it were very slight. A new nurse came into our room and told us that she would be fine, to go outside and get some fresh air. I left crying and went and prayed. I also called my wife's family who were gathered together at a birthday party and they all prayed with me. When I returned to the room my mother was out of A-Fib and doing much better. As God often does when he works a miracle, he left a little hint of his majesty - the new nurse's name was the same as that of my newborn baby daughter - and that is not a common name at all. The doctors said - it was a miracle plain and simple.

Finally, I wanted to share the most recent miracle to grace me. It is of the much more subtle variety. I have been telling everyone to witness more because the time is at hand for the Lord's return. I had emailed this same message to my uncle, a spiritual mentor of mine. Yesterday at church we covered 2 versus of scripture that hit me like a hammer. When I got home, I had an email from my uncle saying he felt led to share with me 2 versus of scripture. Guess what, it was the same two versus. My uncle lives over 600 miles from me and knows no one other than myself at my church. Praise the Lord!

I encourage you as Christians to witness to people. Do not wait, do not procrastinate! The time is upon us! I also encourage you to stop what ever you are doing at 9:00 EST tonight and for the rest of the year and say a prayer for our country. Say a prayer for these elections. Say a prayer that God will watch over the USA and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ will spread.

If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your savior - please do so. He will forgive your sins and you can enter into a relationship with the best friend you will ever have.

Not the Time to Put Your Head in the Sand.

Folks I am going to do something I have never done, I am going to go back in the archives and revive a earlier post because I think it is absolutely crucial to read. With each passing day I am more convicted that my predictions are correct. Please, please, please take time to look at these links, consider your faith and make sure that you are believing in Jesus as the ONLY way to get you to Heaven.

I believe we are at the end times and I believe that Obama is going to win this election and then turn the economy around thus getting superstar status globally. But do not be deceived, for he is no hero. Let us look to the Bible. Let us look at Revelation 13 to be exact since it speaks in great detail of the coming of the Anti-Christ.

13:1 Reads - "And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy." - Rising up out of the sea to me means that the Anti-Christ will be from an island nation - or perhaps Hawaii. The seven heads are the G-7 financial powers and one of the heads will be seriously injured and revived and the whole world will be amazed. That one head will be the United States economy. The 10 horns could be seen as countries where the Anti-Christ will derive power from, and which will become 10 kingdoms for an hour so says the Bible.

13:2 Reads - "And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority." - leopards are two colors, perhaps predicting he is biracial. The dragon that helped him win his seat (perhaps seat in Congress) and has great authority could be Obama's financial backer and head of the world-wide Unification Church Sun Myung Moon whose original name was Mun Yong Myong. Yong means "dragon" in Korean, but Moon changed his name to keep Christians from equating him with the dragon in Revelation, which is exactly what I am doing. Moon has suggested he is the second Christ and is a very dangerous man and a very big financial backer of Obama.

13:3 Reads - "And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast." I am not sure what is meant by this. The seven heads are the G-7 global financial powers and the head that is CURRENTLY INJURED is the American economy which Obama will revive and win great favor around the world. I would bet my farm the economy turns around under Obama as a result of this prophecy, and I am a financial advisor. I am not a Bible scholar, just a regular Joe doing my best to make sense of this.

13:4 Reads - "And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?" Surely we can say that people's obsession with Obama is a bit weird to say the least. Kids are marching to him and chanting Alpha and Omega like they would a God. Then you have other kids singing to him as if he were a God. Then you have other people fainting when Obama talks. Then you have people worshipping Obama financial supporter Reverend Moon (the dragon) as the second coming of Christ. And you have 200,000 people in GERMANY turning out to see Obama at an address in Berlin. Last time I checked, Obama wasn't running for anything there. I also think there is more to this. Many supposedly "Christian" churches in the US and abroad have become too accepting. I do not think God is pleased. I think we have allowed political correctness and tolerance to run amok.

13:5 Reads - "And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months." How long is a presidential cycle? By the time the President gets settled into office and gets his feet on the ground it surely cannot be much more than 42 months. In addition everyone can agree Obama is a great orator. He has a mouth for speaking great things, but he mocks the Bible. He also seems a bit full of himself as was displayed in John McCain's commercial "The One."

13:16 Reads - "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads." Surely this can never happen right? Maybe it can and already is. Barack Obama has sponsored a bill - Senate Bill 2911 for "interoperability with electronic medical records." This would expedite medical information about people, but its a short jump to the implementation of micro-chips in humans like animals that would allow humans to purchase and sell things based on their implanted microchips. Read the articles, a bit chilling.

13:18 Reads - "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." I may have been reading this passage wrong my entire life. I have always assumed the number of the Beast was 666. But the passage actually states that if you have understanding you should COUNT THE NUMBER. Well since 666 is already put out there, perhaps counting means adding. 6+6+6=18. So 18 is the number of the Beast? Barack Hussein Obama has 18 letters. It may be a stretch, but when viewed in light of the totality of the situation, it seems a bit chilling to me.

Further in Revelation you find that a woman classified as "The Great Prostitute" will ride the Beast (Obama?). The Great Prostitute is also mentioned as "The Great City" and "Babylon." Could this be the United States of America?

Revelation 18:3 Reads - "For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies." Surely no where in the world has made merchants richer than the United States.

18:11 Reads - "And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more." Again, this seems eerily like a description of the United States and the world's need for us as its great consumer. It also seems to suggest that something terrible is going to happen to us and if we in America are truly the "Great Prostitute" we will be riding on "The Beast."

Maybe I am way off in my thinking. Maybe I am reading way too much into all this. Or maybe many of us are missing the boat and not seeing what is right in front of our eyes. We have an inexperienced candidate who came from no where and on whom nothing sticks. It does not matter that this candidate can be linked to ACORN, Ayers, Wright, Raines, and Johnson. It does not matter that this candidate has the most liberal voting record in Congress. It does not matter that this candidate has a name that is one letter removed from two of our most hated Muslim enemies. Indeed it seems sometimes as if we are being handed an UNELECTABLE candidate to show us how blind we are to what is going on. And the scary thing, we are likely going to elect him.

Take time to make sure you are saved, and that you have repented from your sins. Make sure to witness to those loved ones and friends around you. Getting saved is as easy as A B C.

Don't hide this great truth, but share it. We need to contact as many as possible during these dark days.

Sorry, Not this Time: USA Crucifying Jesus Again?

Stop what you are doing for a second. This is important. How important? Well it’s the most important thing EVER. As a country it is my contention that the United States is perched precariously on the edge of a great abyss. It is that same abyss from which the Anti-Christ will arrive. You see the great city of Babylon in the Bible, in my opinion, is the United States, and oh how the mighty have fallen.

Senator Barack Obama has said a lot of things that are not true in this election, but one thing he has said that is true is that America is not what it should be. I admit that when he said this, my hair bristled. “America is still the greatest country on earth,” I thought to myself. But somewhere along the line America forgot what made her great. Americans started buying into the myth that “America the melting pot” is the key to her greatness, but never can that be true.

What has made America great is not her political correctness and tolerance; it was her leader, her cornerstone – Jesus Christ. Despite what you have been told in your “politically correct” textbooks, America was formed as a Christian nation and was easily the most identifiable Christian nation on earth. Then we decided that making people happy and comfortable was more important than what was right and wrong. It was more important to be tolerant than correct. If you don’t believe me, or if you are not Christian, I urge you to see for yourself. Research it. Open a Bible to Revelations 18 and replace Babylon with USA. You owe yourself that.

So what happened? Government happened, the very same people that have broken our free market by forcing banks to make loans to people they knew couldn’t afford them because they did not want to offend anyone has taken God out of our country for the same reasons. Gone is prayer in school because we did what was politically correct versus what was right. Have you ever thought about that word – politically correct? In its very makeup it shows that it is only correct for political purposes – votes. But it’s not just government that has helped poison the water.

Once proud Christian churches have allowed their teachings to become corrupted by a desire to be politically correct as well. In law school they taught us that a person is more likely to remember an event if it happened recently than if it happened some time ago. Lawyers, therefore, use this as a trap. If someone has said something inconsistent at trial with testimony they gave closer to the time of occurrence, it can be used against them. We call it “refreshing recollect.” So if Christian churches in the United States used to stand firm against abortion, gay relationships, and other means of reaching Heaven besides Christ, why do many now believe these things are acceptable? Have we become more intelligent than our grandfathers? Two words – political correctness. Many state that we have evolved as a people and are more open thinking. Well good for us, but once wrong in God’s eyes – always wrong.

Let me tell you an absolute truth – the only way to go to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. Let me tell you that again – the ONLY WAY to be saved is through JESUS CHRIST. He died for all of our sins great and small. Preachers such as Joel Osteen have said their may be other ways to God. Oprah Winfrey hints that each religion has a way. They are both wrong, and so are many other churches that have corrupted the Bible. THE ONLY WAY is JESUS. Else wise he would have died in vain. Why would he have died so we can get to Heaven if there was another way? There is not. He did not.

So as our proud country sets dangerously close to electing a President of whose alleged Christianity I am skeptical, we may be getting what we deserve. Just remember that our God is a loving God, but he is not a TOLERANT God. He is not a politically correct God. He is a jealous God. And he will not allow the United States, a country he made the greatest in the entire world, to crucify Jesus Christ yet again.

Surprise - Obama's name on ACORN lawsuit!

Obama's name has turned up on court documents when ACORN was forcing one of these "bad mortgages" from Citibank. Obama was counsel for ACORN in accusing Citibank of "redlining," ie, denying a mortgage due to discrimation based on ethnicity. This is the actual stuff that got us into this crisis to begin with.

An Important Election Indeed: Heaven and Hell in the Balance

Okay, I cannot take it any more. I have went off the deep end and have lost sanity. Or perhaps I am more sane than most. I consider myself a modestly intelligent man. What I am about to say will surely cause many of you to label me a "wacko." I don't care, I cannot take it any longer. Days after I warned that I may now be the crazy man standing on the corner, I am convinced that I am not crazy, rather, the rest of the world is. I believe that the United States is on the brink of electing the Anti-Christ in Barack Obama. I do not say this without reason, allow me to try and persuade you to see my side.

13:3 Reads - "And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast." I am not sure what is meant by this. The seven heads are the G-7 global financial powers and the head that is CURRENTLY INJURED is the American economy which Obama will revive and win great favor around the world. I would bet my farm the economy turns around under Obama as a result of this prophecy, and I am a financial advisor. I am not a Bible scholar, just a regular Joe doing my best to make sense of this.

13:4 Reads - "And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?" Surely we can say that people's obsession with Obama is a bit weird to say the least. Kids are marching to him and chanting Alpha and Omega like they would a God. Then you have other kids singing to him as if he were a God. Then you have other people fainting when Obama talks. Then you have people worshipping Obama financial supporter Reverend Moon (the dragon) as the second coming of Christ. And you have 200,000 people in GERMANY turning out to see Obama at an address in Berlin. Last time I checked, Obama wasn't running for anything there. I also think there is more to this. Many supposedly "Christian" churches in the US and abroad have become too accepting. I do not think God is pleased. I think we have allowed political correctness and tolerance to run amok.

13:5 Reads - "And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months." How long is a presidential cycle? By the time the President gets settled into office and gets his feet on the ground it surely cannot be much more than 42 months. In addition everyone can agree Obama is a great orator. He has a mouth for speaking great things, but he mocks the Bible. He also seems a bit full of himself as was displayed in John McCain's commercial "The One."

13:16 Reads - "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads." Surely this can never happen right? Maybe it can and already is. Barack Obama has sponsored a bill - Senate Bill 2911 for "interoperability with electronic medical records." This would expedite medical information about people, but its a short jump to the implementation of micro-chips in humans like animals that would allow humans to purchase and sell things based on their implanted microchips. Read the articles, a bit chilling.

13:18 Reads - "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." I may have been reading this passage wrong my entire life. I have always assumed the number of the Beast was 666. But the passage actually states that if you have understanding you should COUNT THE NUMBER. Well since 666 is already put out there, perhaps counting means adding. 6+6+6=18. So 18 is the number of the Beast? Barack Hussein Obama has 18 letters. It may be a stretch, but when viewed in light of the totality of the situation, it seems a bit chilling to me.

Further in Revelation you find that a woman classified as "The Great Prostitute" will ride the Beast (Obama?). The Great Prostitute is also mentioned as "The Great City" and "Babylon." Could this be the United States of America?

Revelation 18:3 Reads - "For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies." Surely no where in the world has made merchants richer than the United States.

18:11 Reads - "And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more." Again, this seems eerily like a description of the United States and the world's need for us as its great consumer. It also seems to suggest that something terrible is going to happen to us and if we in America are truly the "Great Prostitute" we will be riding on "The Beast."

Maybe I am way off in my thinking. Maybe I am reading way too much into all this. Or maybe many of us are missing the boat and not seeing what is right in front of our eyes. We have an inexperienced candidate who came from no where and on whom nothing sticks. It does not matter that this candidate can be linked to ACORN, Ayers, Wright, Raines, and Johnson. It does not matter that this candidate has the most liberal voting record in Congress. It does not matter that this candidate has a name that is one letter removed from two of our most hated Muslim enemies. Indeed it seems sometimes as if we are being handed an UNELECTABLE candidate to show us how blind we are to what is going on. And the scary thing, we are likely going to elect him.

I encourage you to do your own research, but don't discount it as a possibility. My daughter asked me why it would happen in our generation - WHY NOT? If we as Christians truly believe what we say we do, does this not seem a bit too eerie to look past without at least doing a bit of research and taking a bit of time to make sure we share with our loved ones? After all this may be the most important election in the history of mankind...Heaven and Hell may be watching.

And down the stretch they come! Barack Obama and John McCain are racing toward the Presidential finish line, but the national economy is providing a headwind to John McCain while airing the sails for Barack Obama. Another day, another triple digit drop in the DOW, and as a financial professional I can tell you that there is no quick and easy fix.

I was a opponent of the bailout and I believe John McCain missed his opportunity to make a dent in the polls by aligning himself with the people and not with government. The problem with the bailout is that while it may stem some of the fear on Wall Street, it reeks of socialism and allows government to get its' greedy hands in our free market system. That is the same government that got us in this mess by pushing lending agencies to agree to mortgages with minority groups and lower income families that could not afford the debt they agreed upon. But this isn't the only issue with the market.

The market situation is a tricky one because it has become amazingly global. As a financial advisor I began seeing this in great detail over the past 5 years or so. It used to be when you bought an international fund you could be assured that the fund was truly “international,” but now with globalization everything is so linked that there is an enormous butterfly effect created when one part falters. Now we have the United State’s market struggling with the bad credit crunch, we have Europe’s markets doing likewise, we have the Asian markets struggling because without exports to the struggling US and European markets their markets will struggle. Then you have Russia who sold its soul to petroleum and becomes ever more agitated with each day the price of a barrel tumbles.

To think that we could stimulate our economy by saddling our taxpayers with$700,000,000,000 (Funny, you never see it written in numeric form – guess its too scary) of additional debt in order to bailout Wall Street may have been a bit far fetched. As Americans we have a very grandiose view of our country and we no doubt have the greatest country on the face of the earth. But, this market crisis is not just an American dilemma and it will not be solved with only an American response. The problem is that “to each his own” is governing this global crisis.

In Europe, each country is dealing with banking issues and market problems in their own way, showing very little unity. In Russia, their entire market revolves around oil and therefore if oil is sinking, then so is Russia. Russia's response very well could be aggression. Instability in oil producing areas could cause the price of oil to increase again and help Russia's flailing economy. So do not be shocked if Russia's military is on the move, or if they use their influence to create a diversion elsewhere. As for Asia they seem to be waiting on the sidelines with fingers crossed hoping that something happens to bring back their sugardaddy, the USA. The moral of the story is that it truly is a "small world after all" and while the US has applied a bandaid to its wounds (although having the government involved is like having Dr. Phil do heart surgery), the rest of the world economy is bleeding profusely.

So whether you believe Obama is the "great unifier," a liberal douche-bag, a skilled politician, or the Anti-Christ, it is befitting to know that he gets his chance to appeal to the whole world during this crisis, because its propelling him to the world's most powerful position, and it is doing so while the whole world watches.

This despite the fact that he cannot explain away a relationship with an unrepentant terrorist in William Ayers, a financial relationship with Jim Johnson and Franklin Raines, and a religious affiliation with Reverend Wright. Any of these things alone would have nuked a Republican Candidate's chances of ever stepping foot in the Oval Office. But when viewed in totality they tell a story of a man with a very shady and radical history. Despite that history, Barack Obama is likely going to be elected President.

Now, more news on Obama's other secret. For some reason John McCain has asked the wrong questions about Obama's work as a "community organizer." McCain has asked what a "community organizer" does. He has asked why they are important, but he has not asked WHO Senator Obama was a "community organizer" with. The answer to that question is ACORN, ie, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Why is it that Senator Obama has not mentioned his efforts with ACORN? Because ACORN is largely responsible for the market decline we are in today....and news out of Nevada today that ACORN is committing voter fraud - AGAIN.

We have all seen him, the gray-bearded scruffy looking homeless man that stands on the corner of every mid to large sized city in the United States with a sign that says "Repent! The end is near." We probably thought - crazy homeless guy, it sure is a shame that he isn't in a facility that can help him. But what if, what if, THIS TIME crazy homeless guy is right? What is worse, what if this time crazy homeless guy is you....or me.

When my community organizing diehard Democrat aunt and uncle told me they were forsaking their party and voting for McCain I almost choked. Don't get me wrong, I was excited for their great enlightenment, but a bit shocked too. These are the same people who have lectured me for years about the negatives of the Republican Party and the positives of the Democratic Party. What they said next made me laugh out loud. They said they were voting for McCain because Obama is the Anti-Christ.

After I stopped laughing I thought to myself - "I always knew that the racists were in the Democratic Party." I continued to laugh for the next few months, but the more and more I started to see how NOTHING sticks to Obama, my laughs got a bit quieter and more muffled. Suddenly I started hearing whispers at church and realized, my aunt and uncle were not alone in their beliefs. In fact, it is a belief that is permeating Christian Churches.

A Christian, but a free thinker I decided to look into all this hub-bub. What I found leaves me feeling much more like the crazy guy on the corner than the passer-by that gives him the sideways glance.

Obama claims to be a Christian, but his father was clearly Muslim and his mother was an atheist. His upbringing seems to have equated Islam with Christianity, but also seems to have placed similar emphasis on Greek Mythology. Certainly Obama's relationship with a very controversial Reverend Wright is enough to turn my stomach as a Christian, but many seem to overlook it entirely. So perhaps, Obama is a radical that has no true religious indoctrination, but claims to be Christian to win votes. Would someone do that? Seems plausible.

Surely though no candidate in a racist country could overcome a name that is one letter removed from two of America's greatest Muslim enemies (Hussein and O-S-ama). Add to this the fact that Senator Obama is friends with a former terrorist in William Ayers and a slumlord on Tony Rezko. Senator Obama also has no real experience and his claim to fame may be working with one of the most corrupt community organizations in the world in ACORN. Surely someone will see through this. RIGHT? Well, maybe not. At some point does the crazy man on the corner wonder what it is going to take to make people listen? What exactly drove him to this point? Maybe not having a way to get his message out? Has anyone tried to get a conservative message out today in the liberal media? It is enough to drive one insane.

Let us look deeper into this most taboo of claims. As a Christian I have always abdicated NOT looking into the future. But for end of times prophecies, who can resist. Nostradamus predicted both Napoleon and Hitler, or at least it is very difficult to argue that he did not. He also labelled them as the first two of three Anti-Christs. We know that the time period between Napoleon and Hitler was roughly 120 years. Thinking in a time oriented manner, it is about time for number 3. According to Nosty, someone named Mabus will die and this will be the beginning of the end for Good Ole Mother Earth. Mabus, that name sounds familiar. Oh yeah, Ray Mabus is a close political advisor on middle east foreign affairs to Barack Obama. Spooky.

I will admit that this stuff began sending shivers down my spine a bit, so I decided to call up some friends and relatives and see if they could get me mental help before I ended up actually becoming that crazy homeless guy on the street corner. What happened next shook me to the core. I called, but instead of insisting that I was crazy, they offered comments like "what took you so long to realize this" and "I have been wondering about that myself." What? That was unexpected!!

So as I sit here and pen these words to be read by you the reader and await your criticisms and calls for me to see a shrink, I take some comfort in knowing that if the end is near, at least I am on the right side and that I have seen through the Obama lies and deception.

I must admit it seems a bit surreal. It feels like the Matrix, where I can see, but most do not. I guess if I am wrong then Glory Be. If I am going crazy then Halleleuyah. But if I am right, then I am just one of many that will undoubtedly be ignored as that crazy old homeless guy on the corner with his message of repentence.

A Call to Action

As a McCain supporter it pains me to say this, but Obama is far superior in one aspect to John McCain - getting out the votes. As a former community organizer and with connections to ACORN and other grassroot organizations you can bet that Obama's minions are many and they will be doing whatever it takes to get out the vote and put their spin on things to media outlets. That fact coupled with the fact that the majority of the mainstream media and the drive-by media is supporting Obama and it means those undecided voters or wavering Democrats are getting a large dose of bad information.

I believe I am uniquely qualified to warn you of the organization that Obama has behind him because you see, as I try to push this skeleton back in my closet, I was once a member of such a grass root organization. As a bright-eyed young lawyer I once worked with a grass root non-profit organization. These people are passionate about their cause because they believe they are righting a wrong. They believe they are making the world a better place and they will go to great lengths to do so, some even illegal. Their passion versus the normal Republican apathy will create a battle that is very difficult for John McCain to overcome. As I write this ACORN is going door to door in lower income neighborhoods registering anyone it can find. But this isn't the only thing they are doing. Besides any illegal activities, such organizations are pounding local newspapers with canned "letters to the editor." They are doing everything they can to influence everything they can. So consider this A CALL TO ACTION for Republicans.

I am giving you the tools to try and make a difference in this election, now its up to you to take action. It is no longer just enough to vote. You have to be proactive, because I KNOW that they will be.

1. The first thing you can do is PRAY. Pray for your troops, pray for your country, and pray for John McCain and Sarah Palin and their campaign. I like to remember Ben Franklin's quote regarding God during the Constitutional Convention. He asked if we had forgotten our powerful friend (God) or if we thought we just no longer need his assistance. He then added, "I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth - that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?"

2. Write newspapers. If you are in a swing state make sure you emphasize that you are a reader of their paper. State that you would like to see articles on the related topic, or, write letters to the editor. If you are like myself and live in a state that is already pro-McCain then write newspapers in swing states. Don't be afraid to stir things up. Trust me, the other side will be pulling out all the stops. For your convenience, here are some links to the newspapers in some of the swing states. IOWA, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN, MINNESOTA, COLORADO, NEW HAMPSHIRE, FLORIDA, NORTH CAROLINA, NEW MEXICO, NEVADA, MICHIGAN

Go to the links, get the editors' names, write them. Make your voice heard. That is the best chance we have of keeping Barack Obama out of the White House. If you do nothing, but vote and sit on your hands, Obama will prevail.

3. Contact the McCain Campaign and donate money or time. If you have money then make a donation. If you have more time than money, especially if you are in a swing state or can travel to a swing state, donate time and help get out the Republican vote. Call people. Get active. 4. Flood the News Networks. After the debates, flood the sites of the major news organizations and vote for McCain and Palin as having won the debate. Who cares if they did or not. Perception is reality. Also feel free to inundate the same news media outlets with letters, comments, questions, youtube videos that you would like to see them respond to. 5. Call friends that you know in swing states - encourage them to vote and to be active. If you can travel go to their house and help the campaign in that state.

The mainstream media would have you believe that President George Bush is responsible for the economic crisis. The Republicans point fingers at the Democratic Congress. Regardless of which party you are aligned with, you are certainly tiring of the finger pointing. So who is correct?

In law school 101 they teach you to look through the static to find the facts and build your case around them. While members on both sides of the aisle are partly to blame, it would be disingenuine to claim that no one warned of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Numerous warnings by President Bush and high ranking officials inside his cabinet fell on deaf ears, often being pushed to the background by Democratic Senators and Representatives who were, when viewed in the light most complimentary to them, trying to make sure low income families could be approved for home mortgages. In fact John McCain even sponsored legislation on May 25, 2006 to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but the Democratic controlled Congress, including Barack Obama, voted it down.

The Republicans are not without fault in this fiasco. President Bush should have taken a page from Ronald Reagan's book...when all else fails - address the people. The bully-pulpit could have been used to raise attention and cause citizens to put pressure on their respective Senators and Representatives if he was that convinced of the cause.

So now America finds itself in a financial pickle because it's government has put it there. Now the taxpayers face a ominous decision of $700 billion of taxes or economic crisis. And now the same people that screwed the pooch are asking to babysit the kids. Thank goodness for the House Republicans and the 95 or so House Democrats who did something novel for a change - LISTENED.

Science vs. Survival

People are S T U P I D. Fox is reporting that the atom smasher will go back online in the spring and MOST scientist do not believe it has the ability to destroy the earth. It's the MOST thing that disturbs me. After watching the debates Friday evening I was fuming. I wasn't angered by Obama, but rather by McCain's ineptitude. John McCain needs to go on the offensive with Obama, not be his friend. Obama has so many skeletons in his closet that he could start an army of the undead, yet, McCain seemed to take the high ground and not mention them. John McCain needs to reach back for that soldier's attitude. He needs to go after Obama.

With a law degree under my belt, and having been in debates for the better part of my life, it was easy to see that Obama is a skilled debater. McCain is not. McCain should have addressed the bailout by explaining why he needed to go to Washington. He should have explained that before spending $700 billion in taxpayer money, he wanted to see if there was an alternative way of raising the money. He should have said that he is the one that has a history of reaching across the aisle to bring the sides together and this was needed. He should have also said that Obama probably was not needed since he has no history of bipartisan politics and then mentioned his 97% party line voting record.

McCain also should have had folded in his coat pocket a copy of his failed bill from 2005 which called for reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. When Obama made his quip about Obama having warned about FM and FM, McCain could have pulled that out and said, "Senator Obama warned, but took no action. I took action and Senator Obama voted against it." The election would have been over right there.

McCain should have used Obama's quote about US soldiers bombing and killing innocent civilians against him. He should have drawn on Obama's relationships with persons of questionable character. As Glenn Reynolds said on Instapundit, "its a target rich environment."

So Senator McCain, if you want to win this election, you need to be much better prepared. You need to be more aggressive. You need to harp on the negatives of Obama and make people affraid of him. I know I am affraid of him, it should be like shooting fish in a barrel.

I blew it - because McCain did.

Ok, so I blew it. I thought John McCain had this debate setup for success by being able to play the "Obama was gonna fund the $700 billion bailout with taxpayer dollars and I want to fund it with private money in the form of insurance payment" argument. He didn't. It was a mistake. Watching the debate with my wife last night I was fuming mad that he did not take advantage of what I viewed as a chance to turn the entire election in his favor. He should have described the proposed House Republican package in detail and how it is much more advantageous to taxpayers than the $700 billion bailout that Obama supported. This would have made McCain the advocate for the "common guy." It would have justified his going to Washington in the first place. Instead, he didn't even mention it. I agree with Dick Morris who said that McCain really blew it and needs to be more aggressive and less "honorable." Rudy Giuliani said that McCain didn't want to be seen as making political hay on the Washington trip, but it seems to me when you have a game changer like he would have had with the taxpayer bailout versus private bailout you play that card. Its akin to playing game seven of the World Series and not pitching your top pitcher despite his being well rested. You only get so many chances at this, I hope McCain didn't just blow the election.

If this comes to fruition, then I get another "told you so." I would gladly forgo that boastful celebratory gesture however because if this happens, I think it wins the election for John McCain. I believe that John McCain and the House Republicans are working on trying to find a way to finance this $700 billion bailout largely or entirely with private money by giving sweetheart deals to investors. If this happens the Democrats will buck it at first forcing John McCain to figure out an alternative way of getting this passed - the court of public opinion. All polling data shows that Americans are overwhelmingly against this bailout because we do not wish to be on the hook for $700 billion in tax revenue. If McCain can boast of changing the bill to rid the people of this taxation bailout I believe he will vault to the Presidency. I also believe that he can attend the debates one way or the other tonight. He will either be able to boast of his accomplishments, or rally support from the public with an anti-taxation solution. IF - IF - IF this is what happens, either scenario is a win win for McCain.

I have been trumpeting my gut feeling that Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton were working beneath the scenes to secretly try to undermine Barack Obama. My reasons for believing this is because Hillary is a very ambitious lady. She wants to be president. She knows that if John McCain is elected she is in position to run as the Democrat front-runner in 2012 against likely Sarah Palin. She also knows that if Barack Obama is elected she must wait 8 years because she would not be able to oust an incumbent president.

Today Bill Clinton told Chris Cuomo of ABC News that the Democrats bear responsibility in the economic crisis because they "resisted any (and all) efforts by the Republican Congress and himself to tighten up the standards on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac." (attached video around the 2:30 mark).

You should know by now that I have well documented Hillary's refusal to go after Sarah Palin despite Obama's plees for her to do so. I have well documented her "less than aggressive" attitude. I said when she pulled her name from the anti-Iran protest due to Sarah Palin's presence that it was a dumb political move for Obama, but not necessarily for her. New polls have shown that Hillary supporters have not fallen in the Obama camp since she left the race, but are still undecided because they are smart enough to know that she is tanking it.

The reality is that Hillary was mistreated by Barack Obama. He was sexist to her just as he has been to Palin. She also felt the wrath of the media and its' smear merchants. Hillary is bitter, but she is smart. She realizes her best way to get back at those who mistreated her is to win the presidency. This would kill two birds with one stone. It would satisfy her aspirations and it would put her in position to avenge those who mistreated her. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Hillary was not the only Clinton that the media and the Democratic Party angered. Bill Clinton was hammered on two sides of the aisle during the primaries. He was encouraged by Hillary supporters to stay away from her campaign. He was smeared by the Obama campaign. I also think former President Clinton was hurt by the media's coverage of Hillary and the overall sexist treatment she received. Now, the media has focused that attention on Palin.

One thing is becoming more apparent every day - the Clintons are NOT "all in" with the Obama campaign and the Democratic Party at the moment. Whether it's Hillary dogging it a bit, or Bill chastising the Democratic Party about the economy, the Clintons realize that in order to get a chance at national prominence again they must dispatch of their most dangerous opponent and his name is Barack Obama and not John McCain.

Bill Clinton said this morning in an interview with Matt Lauer that he does not believe that John McCain is playing politics over his refusal to attend the debate if the bailout is not finished. This is John McCain's speach in sponsoring a bill on May 25, 2006 in the U.S. Senate. He warns of the economic risks of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Obama joined Democrats in killing the bill and now we face a $700 billion bailout as a result.

For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs--and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO's report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO's report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay.

I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

Last week I informed you that Hillary Clinton had purposely pulled out of an anti-Iran rally being held by several Jewish organizations in New York City due to Sarah Palin having been invited too. Palin for the record accepted the invitation and was set to speak. As I mentioned last week, I think this is Hillary working to undermine Barack Obama in a very subtle way (also know that she still refuses to attack Palin, despite Obama's please for her to do so). When Hillary pulled out, several of the Jewish organizations threatened to pull out if Palin was allowed to participate. This was in large part because Democratic Congressmen put pressure on the rally organizers to have a bipartisan event, even threatening to pull tax exempt status if the organizations participated in a rally attended by Palin. Palin, needless to say, was disinvited and in so doing, the rally drew far fewer people than it would have otherwise. Many of the Jewish people that did show up were furious with Obama, the Democratic Party, and the rally organizers and openly protested Obama in addition to Iran. "Republicans benefitted more than the Democrats did," political consultant Hank Sheinkopf said. "Why? Sarah Palin wanted to be there, but it looks like she was purposely told not to and rejected. It gives her standing, particularly among those people who are thinking about voting Republican anyway."

As the nasty racist people of the United States of America are on the verge of electing their first ever President of color, new light is being shed on some very dark secrets that the media doesn't want you to know, nor will the politically correct society we live in ever dare allow to come to light.

Days after falling behind Senator McCain and new rockstar Sarah Palin in the national polls, Barack Obama has jetted back ahead with the disastrous news of the economy. Obama is being viewed by the media and apparently the majority of the public as the potential cure for our economic malady. In reality, it was partly him who caused it.

The truth of the matter is that the economic distress that we are having in this country is because Congress meddled in the affairs of private business. Seeing that many minority candidates were getting turned down when they applied for loans, Congress stepped in to apply pressure to banks in efforts to effectuate more loans to persons of need and persons of color. With this emerged the sub-prime loan in all its glory. The government's henchmen in this effort were the public organizations (ah, we finally know what a public organizer does) such as ACORN, of Barack Obama fame. These organizations could essentially stifle the growth of the banks if they did not agree to these questionable mortgages, often made to minorities.

Fast forward to present and watch as many of the mortgages fail. Imagine that. Barack Obama spins it as the fault of the greedy bankers and CEOs. While greed certainly plays a role, it is also a cornerstone of capitalism. It wasn't the greed that played the key role however, it was Congress and its cronies. It was Barack Obama and Acorn. It was political correctness run wild. Bankers being told they had to give loans to minority groups and lower income people caused a meltdown in the economy that timed perfectly with Barack Obama's falling behind in the polls and enabled him to reep the rewards from a disaster he helped create.

So when you are listening to the candidates both taking shots at President Bush and members of Congress who did nothing to prevent this disaster remember that at least they didn't help create it. Only one prominent politician has that dubius distinction and in the greatest irony ever written he may just ride it all the way to the White House.

As I chat with people on a day to day basis I realize that many people that describe themselves as Republican or Democrat have no idea what seperates the two parties ideologically. Some of the people I think should be Republicans vote religiously Democrat and visu-versa as a result often of having been raised that way and never questioning or reserching the issues. So what are the key differences between the two parties?

Social

Republicans are largely pro-life while Democrats are pro-choice. This has created the idea that the Democratic Party is the Party for women's rights and the Republican Party is the Party of religious rights. Truth be known, of all federal elected officials the majority of Republicans are pro-life and the majority of Democrats are pro-choice. So maybe there is something to it.

Republicans tend to be in favor of prayer in school. Democrats tend to be against anything that allows one religion to be placed above another in a public setting.

Democrats tend to be big on social welfare. In fact, under Democratic Presidents, social welfare programs usually receive more funding and military programs less funding. Republicans tend to conversely believe in less social welfare and more national security spending. Republicans also tend to believe in less taxation and more individual financial freedom.

National Security

Under Republican Presidents, the spending on national security usually increases. The Republicans tend to take a more "walk softly carry a big stick" outlook on global affairs. Under Democratic Presidents, the spending on national security usually decreases to allow for more spending on social welfare. Democrats believe in diplomacy and tend to favor multi-national coalitions for security purposes moreso than do Republicans.

Taxes

Democrats often believe in using taxes to help fund their social welfare programs. Democrats tend to put greater taxes on higher income persons while decreasing taxes for lower income persons. Republicans believe in lower taxes. Republicans believe that taxing higher income persons is a misnomer as many small and mid-size businesses file as individuals and thusly Republicans believe that higher taxes on the wealthy causes constriction in the job market. When they do favor increasing taxes, Republicans tend to favor increasing them across the board.

Medicine

Democrats believe in socialized medicine. They tend to believe that medical care is too expensive for many Americans and therefore socialized government sponsored medicine may be the answer. Republicans believe in private medicine. They believe that socializing medicine would decrease its quality by removing competition and choice from the equation.

Environment

Democrats tend to believe in strong defense of the environment. Also Democrats have tended to be animal rights supporters with such groups as PETA among its ranks. Republicans tend to be less conservationally minded looking at financial impacts and weighing them versus environmental preservation. Hunters and gamesmen tend to fall into the Republican Party as the NRA is among its ranks.

* Due to the social welfare stance of Democrats, African Americans have tended to be a mainstay.
* Due to the abortion, religious Americans often tend to favor the Republican Party.

While Barack Obama has seized on the economic woes of America as a political opportunity, going rally to rally spreading gloom and doom, John McCain has tried to console and reassure Americans. The mainstream media continues to classify both candidates as weak on economics and basically clueless. At the same time the media continues to erroneously link John McCain to George Bush thusly lending a helping hand to Obama's campaign. But when it comes to change, with a plan, McCain is the one who has the facts on his side.

McCain prophetically warned the President and the American people that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were in trouble. He sponsored the Federal Housing Enterprise Reform Act of 2005 in an attempt to address the problems that he said were putting the American housing industry in a very dangerous situation. Congress killed that bill, largely due to partisan politics, though some republicans fought the bill as well. Why McCain has not touted this is a mystery to me. He continues to be lumped alongside Obama as someone who is weak on economics, but in reality, he was one of the few who foresaw this coming and tried to take actions against it. For the record, Obama voted against the bill.

Then this week Senator McCain stubbed his toe a bit by stating that the fundamentals of the economy are strong, while the market was headed down the crapper. It was a poor job of relating his message, which really was that the basic principals of the market and of the economy are strong. It was also a poorly timed comment which Senator Obama has taken and ran with. That being said, Obama has not really offered a plan for addressing the problems that plague the economy.

On the other hand, McCain has again proved prophetic. McCain began speaking yesterday morning of a plan he had which would help take some of the "bad debt" off the books of the banks and lending agencies. While it was rather extreme for me as a diehard conservative, it was easy to see why he would suggest such a thing, mainly to bolster a struggling stock market and prevent an absolute collapse. So far, it has worked. President Bush, Ben Bernanke, and Henry Paulson devised a very similar plan to that suggested by McCain. The idea behind the plan, coupled with the government's assurance that it will help money market funds out, has created a big surge for the market today.

All in all, John McCain needs someone to toot his horn. He was right about Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and tried to take action, but was voted down by among others Barack Obama. Now, McCain looks prophetic again with his strategy to tackle the economic crisis we are currently dealing with. Obama conversely has given no strategy, but instead only seized upon the market's decline to try and make political hay. Someone should stand up for McCain in this, because for someone that supposedly doesn't understand the economy, he sure has been right a lot lately.

I'll admit it has entered my mind. After watching the looting in the wake of the Rodney King verdict I have wondered what happens if it's a tight race hinging on a late reporting swing state like Florida. What happens in this scenario if McCain wins Florida? Do we have a nationwide race riot? It is not the politically correct thing to ask, but its fair game when we are talking about African American reporters like Ali predicting race wars over the possible defeat of a presidential candidate that attends a church whose preacher says "God Damn America" and stresses that a cultural war is already at hand between races in America.

So how are the polls playing out? Well, they are trending along the lines or race and age. The majority of whites are favoring McCain and the vast majority of blacks favoring Obama. In addition, the younger the voter the more likely they will vote for Obama. With this being said, polls are not always accurate when dealing with elections involving minorities.

Stephen D. Levitt, author of Freakonomics mentioned last night on Glen Beck's show that the polls are often problematic for minority candidates as people who do not wish to be viewed as racists, even over the phone, will claim they are voting for the minority candidate, only to pull the other lever at the ballot box. As you know, I have long made this same contention: whatever Obama's polling shows, take away 3 to 5 percent on election day.

No matter how you look at this election it's very naive to think race will not play a role. In a country that is constantly and consistently reminded of just how racist we all are, the fact that this presidential contest is so close dispels the extreme racism myth. Perhaps the racism that has been most prominently on display thus far has been of the reverse variety disguised as cultural pride and guarded by the doctrine of political correctness.

By now everyone has heard Obama's "lipstick on a pig" quote. Those who are for McCain and Palin have chimed in that it is obviously a sexist remark made about Palin. Those in the Obama camp point out that he has used the phrase before and that even McCain has used the phrase. So who is right and who is wrong? Let's look a bit deeper.

It is absolutely correct that both Obama and McCain have used this relatively common phrase before. McCain admits he has used the term numerous times. Obama used it to describe Bush having given General Patraeus an impossible mission. I don't think anyone is in disagreement that it is an often used phrase in Washington.

So what is all the hubbub about? In law you can help prove a crime or criminal mindset by showing a propensity to do that crime over and over. If I go out and get drunk on the town, I may or may not be an alcoholic. If I go out and get drunk on the town repeatedly, I probably am an alcoholic. The underlying question then is whether or not Obama is sexist. While some people have said that his "lipstick on a pig" comment is not worthy of much attention, it certainly could not be said that his being sexist is not worthy of attention. So is Obama sexist or not?

Having researched the topic, there is no doubt in my mind that he is. Not wishing to make such a broad statement without proof, I submit to you that Obama has a history of making sexist statements which can only lead me to believe, he is a sexist.

Indeed Geraldine Ferraro, a Democrat that has the honor of being the first female Vice President nominee called Obama sexist. She has since thrown her support behind him, picking party over gender now that Hillary is not an option. But let us look to Hillary herself who continually alleged that Obama and his starstruck media was sexist.

Then you have the numerous little jabs that Obama has taken at women. If you come to the conclusion that Obama is not sexist, then surely you cannot say he is not chauvinistic. While in Allentown Mr. Obama said to a woman at the Tama Manufacturing plant that "you look like you might be a dancer. "You're big time. You are gorgeous." Then while in Scranton Obama tried to convince a Hillary supporter to change allegiance by suggesting "I'll give you a kiss." At an address at Tulane University Obama stated, "You challenge the status quo and suddenly the claws come out" when referring to attacks aimed at him by Clinton. Finally, when asked a question by a female autoworker, Obama said "hold on sweetie" avoiding the question so he could go pose for a photo shoot.

While none of these jabs in and of themselves constitute blatant sexism, when viewed in light of the totality of the evidence, they show a pattern. This coupled with the fact that Sarah Palin had already taken personal possession of the lipstick comments with her "lipstick on a pitbull" comment makes Obama's use of the phrase very questionable. In fact, right after making the comment, Obama began to talk about Sarah Palin. This leads to the conclusion that either Barack Obama is a reckless unintelligent person who does not have a good mastery of the English language, which is not the case. Or, he is sexist. You have the information, you decide. One way or the other, the "lipstick on a pig" comment is more important than some are letting on.

In an earlier article this week I asked if Hillary Clinton might "underperform" in her stumping for Obama in order to get a quicker shot at President. Is this what she is doing here by refusing to say anything negative about Palin? While I have never held Clinton in high esteem, I have always said she is a scrapper and I do appreciate that quality in a politician. She can sling mud with the best of them, so why no mud here? The way I see it, there are two plausible reasons for the lack of attack. The first is that Obama's campaign is keeping her on a tight leash and doesn't wish to continue to attack Palin. Given that Obama himself is continuing to attack Palin, I doubt this is the correct reason. The other more plausible explanation is that Hillary Clinton is not going all out for a candidate that she doesn't fully endorse. Hillary realizes that her best shot at the Oval Office is for McCain and Palin to win and do poorly in office which would set up a Clinton/Palin matchup in the next election. What do you think? On a day when his followers kept referring to Sarah Palin as "putting lipstick on her record," Barack Obama proceeded to say that "you can put lipstick on a pig, but its still a pig."He then proceeded to say that you can put old fish in newspaper and it still stinks. After each statement he grinned and waited on the predictable round of laughter from his followers as they picked up on his digs at Sarah Palin. The problem is that it was a sexist dig at Palin and when trying to woo female voters that had once followed Hillary Clinton such a strategy can only be considered asinine. Obama needs to realize that those things that get him big laughs at his rallies, go on blogs in the mornings and lose him votes in the election. There is a time to be a comedian, and a time to be an honorable politician. Congratulations Mr. Obama you just opened your mouth and inserted your foot. Hope the laughs were worth it in November.

The clueless media chugs on - now hammering Palin for Christianity

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. With that being said, the media belongs on a funny farm. After polls have repeatedly shown that the attacks on Sarah Palin are having an opposite than desired affect, the media continues to bombard the likeable Governor of Alaska. The newest attempts to smear Palin revolve around her Christianity. What the media seems to miss out on is the fact that the huge majority of persons in the United States are Christian, even if its a minority in the media. By trying to run Palin's name through the mud by saying that she believes in the book of Revelation among other things, the media if further galvonizing a conservative base that has thrust McCain and Palin into a lead in the polls.

In an article on CNN, reporter Randi Kaye asks "how might her (Palin's) religious beliefs impact policy in Washington if the Republican ticket is successful?" "To which Palin's former preacher Tim McGraw said that he imagines it will greatly impact her decisions. The difference is that the McGraw and the bulk of Americans believe this to be a good thing, while the media seems to view this as bad somehow. When its all said and done, someone needs to send a thank you note to the mainstream leftwing media on behalf of John McCain and Sarah Palin. Here's to hoping they keep on hammering, because the more they hammer the sharper that blade becomes.

With John McCain and Sarah Palin picking up steam and taking a lead in the polls Hillary can either fight the good fight and try to get her party's candidate elected, or, she can put on a show while tanking it a bit. If Obama wins the election he takes over for presumably 8 years and Hillary has to sit on the sideline and wait. If John McCain wins then Hillary waits 4 years, works on her resume, takes a leadership role in American politics and becomes the democratic front runner for the next race. This will be very interesting to watch.

What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. Barack Obama certainly makes a lot of slips of the tongue. He refers to our 57 states, offers that children with asthma should have breathalyzers readily available, hears then doesn't hear Reverend Wright's controversial comments and now he refers to his "Muslim faith." While someone that is scrutinized as much as a presidential candidate will make some mistakes, it seems that Obama makes big ones. He descends upon the political scene from nowhere, perhaps like the rays of light that will descend from the heavens to convince people to vote for him. He is immediately linked to a church that may be more aptly classified as a black supremacist cult. Oprah Winfrey's refusal to invite Vice President nominee Sarah Palin to her show is certainly putting bees in a lot of female bonnets nationwide. Winfrey is a Barack Obama backer that has chosen race over sex. While there is nothing wrong with this decision, her decision not to allow Sarah Palin to be on her show is going to further hurt her ratings which were already dropping because she chose Obama over Hillary. The problem is that Oprah has made her hay by pitching to women that they can aspire to do great things. Now that Palin has done incredible things, Oprah's refusal to allow the history making VP candidate on her show flies in the face of her own doctrine. Oprah's decision is getting hammered on her own website and she is getting grilled over this decision in the media. Oprah should reach back and pull on some of her Tennessee "up-bringing" because surely she was told, as I was, that - you dance with who brung ya.

One of my favorite parts of "Christmas Story" is the scene where Ralphie puts on the pink bunny costume his aunt made for him. This is paramount to the Packers trading for Favre just before a playoff push or Hillary naming Monica Lewinsky as her running mate for 2012. This is going to be terribly awkward to watch folks. Does anyone sincerely believe that she wants to be doing this? I wish someone would tell her to run upstairs and stop this "I support Obama" charade. Obama is sending out a host of women senators to battleground states in the wake of Sarah Palin's rise to stardom on Wednesday. Obama wants to show how important women are to the Democrat Party. More specifically he wants to try to keep Hillary Democrats from defecting to Palin's Party. Couldn't he have avoided this headache all together by having Hillary as his VP? Instead, the advocate for change picked one of the crustiest Washington insiders on his side of the aisle. Surely he wasn't just talking change to say what he thought the American's wanted to hear.

Here is to hoping that the Democrats send Nancy Pelosi to small towns in Pennsylvania and Ohio. So Harry Reid really wants to see "shrill?" I am sure lots of people with good "down home, small city values" would love to have Nancy Pelosi in their town about as much as they would like to see Hurricane Ike pay a courtesy call.

Press misses the true problem with Bush

The press last night kept referring to how McCain's financial policy sounds too much like that of President Bush and therefore is no real change at all. The underlying philosophy of President Bush's financial platform is based in Reagan Economics, ie, less government waste, lower taxes, more independent freedoms. The problem is that Bush has spoken a good fight, but never held true to the doctrine. McCain should clarify this for those too closed minded to understand, mainly, the media. The difference between Bush's financial plan and McCain's financial plan is not in the plan itself, its in the execution.

Personally, I am not sure McCain would cut taxes a great deal, although I do think that decreasing the tax load on businesses would help keep some jobs at home and increase employment(we currently have the second highest tax burden on business in the world). That being said, I have no doubt that he would try to decrease wasteful spending. Decreasing government waste has been a trademark of both McCain and Palin.

McCain has a history of bipartisanship

I constantly come across people who tell me that we would be better off if the Republicans and Democrats would put away their differences and try to work together. Perhaps no candidate could have boasted a better track record on this than John McCain. McCain has crossed party lines to work on campaign reform legislation with Democrat Russ Feingold. He has sponsored bills with Democrats John Kerry and Ed Kennedy. The fact of the matter is that if a voter is looking for an absolute change then Obama is a 360. If the voter is looking for a change without it being a 360 on all issues then McCain is probably the man. McCain is not George Bush, he is his own man and tends to vote on his convictions more than his party. In the past this has left him as an outcast to his own party as he tends to be more liberal than the base. As McCain positions himself for the stretch run he positions himself as an agent for change. That sounds familiar. Obama has positioned himself the same way. The question will be how much change do people want. Its one thing for a New York Yankee fan to switch colors and be a Mets fan for the playoffs, quite another for them to be a Red Sox fan.
